Are we losing the art of respect? Ugandan deejay and emcee Etania Mutoni believes so, particularly when it comes to how women treat men. She's sparked a lively debate by suggesting that kneeling for men is a crucial sign of respect, and her views have certainly turned heads.
Etania has become a hot topic, voicing her concerns about the perceived decline in respect towards men. She recently shared her thoughts on the In My Opinion podcast, questioning why many women today hesitate to kneel when serving their partners food.
According to Etania, this act of kneeling is a fundamental cultural practice and a clear demonstration of respect. She finds it puzzling that women might find it easy to kneel in other situations, yet struggle with this simple gesture of service.
"You lot are getting on your knees for some other business, and now you don’t wanna kneel down to give your husband a plate of food? You say, 'I could never kneel down for a man,' but you can kneel to do bad manners. It’s on respect where you draw the line?" she questioned. She also shared a personal anecdote: "I grew up watching my Mum kneel. Despite not being a Muganda, she married into a Muganda family, and that’s how their culture is."
But here's where it gets controversial... Etania's perspective raises interesting questions about cultural traditions, personal values, and the evolving dynamics of relationships.
What do you think? Is kneeling a necessary expression of respect, or an outdated practice? Do you agree with Etania's views, or do you have a different perspective? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
