Lakers' Late-Game Rally Secures Third Straight Win
The Los Angeles Lakers secured their third consecutive victory with a thrilling 110-101 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. Despite a strong performance from Luka Doncic, who recorded 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists, the Lakers faced a challenging fourth-quarter deficit. However, they mounted a remarkable comeback, outscoring the Pelicans 24-7 in the final stretch, thanks to the efforts of Deandre Ayton and Austin Reaves.
Reaves, who initially struggled, hitting his first eight shots, finished with 15 points, including a crucial 3-pointer with 5:04 left in the game, which put the Lakers back in the lead. Marcus Smart and Doncic then sealed the victory with clutch 3-pointers in the final two minutes. Smart's all-around performance was impressive, contributing 10 points, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocked shots.
LeBron James, who moved closer to breaking the NBA's career field goal record, added 21 points and 7 assists. However, Doncic's night took a turn when he received his 14th technical foul of the season in the second quarter, clapping at a referee to protest a no-call in the final minutes. This incident could result in a suspension if he accumulates a 16th technical foul.
The Pelicans, led by Zion Williamson's 24 points, suffered their second loss in six games during their West Coast trip. Trey Murphy III and Saddiq Bey also contributed 21 and 18 points, respectively, but the Lakers' late-game surge proved too much for them to overcome.
The Lakers' next game is scheduled for Thursday night in Denver, while the Pelicans will face the Sacramento Kings.
