It takes a crew of 202 people (106 crew members and 96 locals) a full day to set up and four hours to pack it all away. The logistics are a beast in themselves, with 25 trucks, 19 sea containers, and a staggering 'half a plane' of gear transported from Metallica's headquarters in San Rafael, California, near San Francisco.
The lighting crew, a team of 12, is responsible for creating the atmospheric ambiance. They'll operate 200 moving lights, 200 additional LED lights, 12 spotlights, four lighting trusses, and five remote operators under the stage. All this lighting is sourced from Australia and New Zealand, ensuring a vibrant and dynamic show.
The video crew, consisting of 16 professionals, will bring the performance to life on the big screen. They'll operate five video walls, each measuring 9x9 meters and boasting 17 million pixels, along with 16 cameras and a spidercam. There will be 120 speakers around the stage, 48 in the back, 40 hanging subwoofers, 72 floor wedges, and 48 on the ground under the stage.
